Arrival in Japan

Don't really have much to say about today. The 11 hour flight was uneventful, and we got through customs fairly quick. The people are unbelievably polite and the place is very clean. When we got to our hotel room I was very surprised at the size of it - when you consider Japan's notoriety for small rooms and also for being very expensive, this place came as a pleasant surprise. We got a shuttle bus to the hotel and then crashed for a few hours. (Jet lag hit us both hard). The restaurant in the hotel is Italian, of all things. We are staying in Narita, a smaller city near to Tokyo. We went for a walk and ended up in another Italian restaurant. The people are very friendly and helpful, and so far its a good impression. There are vending machines for drinks everywhere - every 50m or so down the footpath. There is a hotel across the road from us called the Christmas Chapel Hotel. I haven't taken a picture yet, but I will tomorrow. There appears to be a Santa on every balcony, and a few more dotted around. We are thinking of just calling in for a look at some stage!

Loving the massive denominations - makes me feel so very wealthy!

I'm not sure what these are, but there were a good few around the town, so I am guessing at some sort of festival.
